walking around the streets of Weymouth near the harbour, came upon this lovely, little place. A small wait to be seated and bosh!…. let the taste bud sensation begin!
Ordered the mixed chicken, bacon, chorizo kebab on a skewer – accompanied with rice, chips and salad and it filled me right up. I noticed they were very busy and upstairs had a party but this did not affect any service at all. Our food was served quickly and the waitress was happy and smiley. They were turning some people away, asking them to come back in ten minutes but were polite about it. Maybe book if you can, but we didn’t and returned and sat down as promised.
The meat was cooked so well and so very tasty. No room for pud! You won’t be disappointed here and I also notice there were lots of Portuguese (I’m guessing from language) that were eating there, this is a sure sign their food is good. Will certainly return to this one.
Price wise – this was excellent value for money.
We found this place on our first night but had already eaten so decided to come back the next night.
When we arrived there were no tables and were asked to come back in half an hour which we did and were so glad we waited to eat here!
There is a small menu which is excellently cooked, we opted for the kebabs which had been regularly coming out of the kitchen, they looked interesting and didnt disapoint. They were very tasty and came with salad, chips and rice .
The atmosphere in Tuga is cosy, you feel like you are eating with family and no one is rushed despite the regular footfall of more diners looking for a table.
In the time we were there they had as many ask for a table as were seated. No one was refused a table they were just asked to come back later and those in the know did return.
Reasonably priced, excellently cooked!
Our second visit to Tugas Restaurant, we thoroughly enjoyed it again, a great place to dine when in Weymouth.. A family run restaurant with traditional Portuguese food..perfect from start to finish with lovely frendly service, there is also seating upstairs.
Highly Recommended 10/10
This is a very friendly eating place. Last Wednesday I came with a large group of friends and we were looked after very well. We had done a pre order and everything came out as expected. I think everyone was very happy with their food. I had the vegetarian salad which was very nice and a yogurt and fruit ice cream for dessert. Today I had the vegetarian linguine and the same dessert as Wednesday. I cannot praise to highly the service and friendship I received on both occasions and am now planning to go back to try there lovely cakes with coffee unless I find the yogurt dessert to tempting
We were visiting Weymouth with our 2 friend’s and fancied a little something different, so looked on TripAdvisor for ideas and came across top 10 restaurants in Weymouth. Best idea ever, found the Tuga Restaurant, emailed them and received a reply immediately from the lovely Maria. Very friendly and such a happy lady! Food was fabulous and we had a great deal on the steaks for the two fellas in our party. The portion sizes just right and the puddings were delicious. The atmosphere was happy and quite a holiday abroad feeling was felt by our party. Thank you Maria. Obrigado Maria e sua turma pela sua hospitalidade, tivemos uma noite linda.
Modest Maria and her team offer great food and service. We enjoyed superb garlic/chilli prawns and white bait, followed by a trio of fish skewer and a beef/prawn skewer and lovely deserts of almond tart with ice cream, accompanied by a decent white Portuguese wine....More
